Welcome. I would like to add some new titles to my school's "Wish List". If you have read a children's book published in the last three years that you would recommend, please post the title, author, and a brief summary. I'm familiar with all the award-winning books and South Carolina nominees. I'm especially looking for titles that may have escaped the notice of the literary critics, but that kids are crazy about. If you are a student at my school (you know who you are), please recommend books that you have discovered at the public library, a bookstore, or that you received as a gift.
I'm currently listening to the audio version of 100 Cupboards by N. D. Wilson and it is wonderful. I'm to the 4th chapter and completely hooked. It is a fantasy novel, set in present day Kansas. Twelve-year old Henry, living with his eccentric aunt and uncle and their three daughters, discovers dozens of doors hidden beneath the plaster of his bedroom walls. That's as far as I've gotten and I can't wait to continue.
Looking forward to your comments.

Love your new site. I'll be thinking of books to recommend.
I really like your new blog. Very nice. I especially like the picture of you with a book.
I can't think of any books right not to recommend but if I come across one I will certainly let you know.
Col. Peel,
I highly recommend goodreads.com as the best way to scrounge for new books. Contrariwise, old bookstores are great places tucked nicely off the beaten path. My gf recently found The Wonder Clock by Howard Pyle in one, and it has turned out to be most delightful.
